New Direct TV Style Commercial?

When you take a minor league umpire out to lunch, he brings in his new partner to shop.

When they come in to shop, you give them free promotional caps.

When you give them free promotional caps, en route to Asheville, NC they put one on the head of Col. Sanders at the original KFC and take a picture.

Don't take a minor league umpire out to lunch.

New Staffers Include Two Umpires

Brandon Lawson (right) and Adam Carter (left)
We've hired 3 new staffers in the past month. Two are umpires. One is the sister of an umpire.

Brandon Lawson and Adam Carter umpire college baseball through the SIUA (Southern Independent Umpire Association) and high school baseball through the KBUA (Kentuckiana Baseball Umpire Association).

Adam is a former assigner at Jeffersontown Little League and will serve as our bookkeeper and other duties as assigned.

Brandon attended Wendelstedt Umpire School in 2010 and is being fast-tracked to become the assistant warehouse manager.

Myra Breit and Brandon Lawson
Myra Breit is the sister of high school umpire and customer Eric Findley and will be a key cornerstone in getting your orders completed in an accurate and timely manner.

Brandon and Adam join a three-man crew of former AAA and College umpire Brandon Cooper who serves as as our field sales representative.

A Re-Dub of Last Year's UmpVision April Fool's Post

Last year, we decided to post an April Fool's Day blog post. We were inspired by Zappos post claiming to sue Disney for the title of being the Happiest Place on Earth.

The post we did was about a pair of glasses we called UmpVision. The beauty of the made-up product was that it was to automatically detect balls-and-strikes. I wrote the article on the cusp of being believable. In fact, many people did believe it.

We received numerous requests to try out the new goggles. I felt bad about that and having to tell some umpires who didn't see that coming that it was "April Fool's!".

I considered writing another for this year, but a combination of lack of time and not wanting to offend anyone again kept me from doing so.

The biggest candidate for a story was the launching of an "Adopt-A-Zebra" campaign. Could that have been remotely believable? Or funny? Maybe neither.

I will, however, let you ponder where that could have gone. If I had written it, I don't think it would have been as good as the UmpVision goggles joke from last year. So I'll re-post that link and simply wish you a Happy April 1st instead.
